Hurricane Katrina Support Group

This past week, we had our first Hurricane Katrina Support Group meeting in Salt Lake City for those displaced from Louisiana; primarily, New Orleans. The stories of their experiences are something beyond what any of us would welcome or want to have happen to us. In spite of the fact that it has been more than a month since that tragic event, many here in Salt Lake are still dealing with payments from FEMA, transportation, and employment.

There are those dealing with healthcare issues, such as prescriptions, dental care, and special medications ranging from high blood pressure to seizures. Although the support group is set up to deal with the aftermath of the mental acceptance of how their lives of have changed and where they go from here, we have found that many are simply dealing with the basic necessities of life.

After discussing ways of dealing with immediate needs, we began discussing the realities of living in Salt Lake. How they might get on their feet so as decide some time in the future what their future might be. We discussed positive experiences thay have had, such as living in apartments in Fox Point, which I consider a great living area. We discussed the role of the church in their recovery, and most of all, viewing themselves as responsible to redesigning their lives.

When all is said and done, no one can live your life for you, or make you happy. Happiness comes from within when we take a positive attitude toward whatever life deals us and we respond in a way to shape our own destiny. We have to constantly remind ourselves to move away from a victim mentally, no matter what the news media may call us. There is still more opportunity and resources for responding to disaster in the U.S. than any country in the world. I cry inside when I try to imagine adapting to the earthquake tragedy in Southern asia.

A fundamental principle in the book Animal Kingdom is that when we all take responsibility for each others' condition, before and after a tragedy, we not only solve problems, but we learn what it means to be a human being. These are the types of principles we need to learn to create a humanly compatible world.

We will begin selling the downloaded sections of the book, Animal Kingdom, @ $3.00 each. One-half of all sales will go to support the efforts of the Hurrican Katrina Support Group here in Salt Lake initially and nationally if we have sufficient funds. The SLC support group will meeet next this Friday, October 26, 2005 at Calvary Baptist Church at 6:00 P.M.

Please contribute your opinions, ideas, and insights and know that this site will have updates every two or three days. Come back and visit us and tell your friends about us.

First, let’s get to what is happening with your environment.

First, let’s get to what is happening with your environment. We have established previously that the expressions of Your environment —Nature—is a reflection of Your collective human consciousness. Although, some may seek scientific explanations, such as global warming, these may simply be mechanisms for expression, but not the Source.

We have also established that “all that exists” within your universe of existence is One. That is, an interconnected reverberation of all events masterminded by a “global mind-set.” You, individually and collectively, are all part of this mind-set.

An Aside: Although we refer to “parts” as language requires, there are no parts in the Oneness we refer to.

Do not draw conclusions about “where” these mass events occur, because the mass events are reflections of you All. Nature simply expresses where there is the greatest propensity for relieving the stresses created by humankind.

Be Clear, these expressions—hurricanes, earthquakes, storms, etc.—are not “good” nor “bad” from Nature’s perspective. Nature does not operate with respect to a human-designed value system. Nor do you, when your expressions are from a spiritual source. They simply are. And commonly result in empathy, compassion, humility, and love.

Humankind appears to learn most from their perspective of crisis. It is as though without crisis for attention-getting, You are collectively in a sleep state of never-ending activity. Never stopping to ask yourselves “How would you design a world that worked for all humans, animals, and the global environment?”
“Does your day-to-day living support a world where there is mutual respect, sharing, and love? Or does your day-to-day living support the opposite?” Remember, you are never neutral! Remember, response to these questions is the responsibility of every individual—regardless of wealth, health, or station in life—in addition to nations and governments.

No instruction manual is necessary for action. You mostly come to this realization during crisis. That is, you reach out to each other in caring ways regardless of your differences. Those behaviors and that way of thinking is available twenty-four hours a day / seven days a week / three hundred and sixty-five days a year, every moment of your life!

They are also the source of peace, serenity, and well-being You so desperately seek from “outer sources.” These are only sourced from your unique “inner spiritual source.” Just that realization of a significant number of humankind could transform the consciousness of your planet.

There is a world of mystery that exists between the consciousness of humankind and mass events that your science has not even begun to explore. In place, you will have to use your intuition and heart to seek answers that cannot be proven by your physically-based science systems.

As you ask questions of “why?” listening to answers from your heart. They are there inside each of you who care to explore. It’s like developing a new skill that has atrophied since birth for most of you.

In addition to contributing to those impacted by your mass events, ask yourself the question, “How can I contribute to the well-being of those in my family, community, city, or nation?”

The answers that come to you provide the “call to action” for living the life you desire most. It is then that the words written about the person called Jesus will truly come to life.
